Micron Chart: The Reclaim Meets Resistance

Micron semiconductor wafer and rising chart for the MU chart of the day.

Wednesday, Sept. 9: The cleanest chart on the screen today is not a broad index. It is Micron (MU), where a sharp reclaim is colliding with a very large round-number test. MU closed the latest daily bar at $1,033.95 after trading as high as $1,042.40. That is a strong session, but it is also close enough to the recent ceiling that the next few bars matter more than the headline.

I like to start Chart of the Day with one simple question: did price move first, or did the options tape? In this case, the Alpha Dashboard puts both clues on the same screen. MU is the top trend-strength name at +83, and its Alpha Trades panel shows a $2.3 million sweep in the November 20 $1,300 call. The chart is trying to reclaim the trend. The flow is asking whether the move can keep going.

That makes MU a better test of the AI trade than a generic tech index. Memory is where data-center demand becomes a supply-and-price story. If MU can hold the reclaim while semiconductors stabilize, the dashboard signal has room to mature. If price slips back under the moving averages, the same call flow becomes an ambitious target instead of confirmation.

A quick tape check: The chart shows where MU is. AlphaX Options shows how the strike map may shape the path between here and the November expiry. Open the live map before the next move.

The dashboard is flagging a real leader

The latest dashboard view is unusually useful because it does not give MU only one bullish label. The sector heatmap shows Tech leading with $81.5 million across 55 trades, while the trend panel puts MU first with $17.1 million of bullish premium. The dashboard also records a $1.6 million bearish MU total. That split is the story: buyers are in control, but the tape is not one-way.

The Alpha Trades panel adds the sharper detail. MU’s $1,300 call sweep expires Nov. 20 and carries $2.3 million in premium. The dashboard’s daily recap also identifies an MU $800 call expiring Oct. 2 as the largest print at $14.8 million. One trade points far out on the calendar; the other sits closer to the current price. Together, they say the market is watching both near-term follow-through and a bigger memory-cycle extension. The MU dashboard view is worth opening because it shows those strikes beside the flow leaderboard, not in isolation.

What the MU chart says now

MU daily price chart with 20-day EMA, 50-day SMA, recent range, and relative strength
MU daily bars through Sept. 9: price is above the 20-day EMA and 50-day SMA, while the relative-strength panel compares MU with SMH and QQQ. Source: Realtime Finance Data.

On the chart, MU is back above the 20-day EMA near $958 and the 50-day SMA near $933. The recent 20-day range runs from $887.61 to $1,042.40. That gives the setup a clear map instead of a vague bullish label.

  • Breakout test: $1,042.40, the latest 20-day high. A close above it would turn the reclaim into fresh price discovery.
  • First support: the $1,000 area. A hold there keeps the round-number reclaim intact.
  • Trend support: the 20-day EMA near $958. Losing it would weaken the current rhythm.
  • Flow check: watch whether MU stays at the top of the Alpha Dashboard trend panel or gives way to fresh put demand.

Peers make the read more interesting. AMD was up 3.56% in the latest quote, while NVDA was down 0.60%; that is a useful reminder that the AI tape is rotating, not marching in lockstep. SMH was nearly flat at the latest quote. MU has to prove it can lead even when the basket is mixed.

The catalyst behind the chart

Micron is scheduled to report fiscal fourth-quarter results on Sept. 30. That date gives the November call flow time to look beyond one print, but it also creates a clear event risk. The market will care about memory pricing, supply, and the durability of AI-driven demand. For now, the chart says reclaim; the dashboard says attention; earnings will decide whether attention becomes a trend.

If MU closes above $1,042.40 and holds the $1,000 area, the dashboard signal has price confirmation. If it rejects the high and loses the round-number shelf, the cleaner read is that the flow was early. I want to see the chart and the tape agree.

P.S. The levels that matter: MU’s $1,042.40 high, $1,000 shelf, and $958 trend line tell three different stories. Use AlphaX Options to track the strike map as the story develops.
