Sunday, Aug. 30: Friday left the market with a clean split screen. The broad tape held firm, but the AI trade stopped moving as one. I watched the close with coffee beside the keyboard. NVDA had just proved demand was real. MRVL then showed that proof still has to beat a very high bar.
That is the useful read for the new week: follow the leaders, but do not confuse a strong theme with a uniform trade. The Alpha Dashboard is built for that gap between the headline and the tape.
One question before Monday: if the AI trade is healthy, why did one of its best-known networking names lose more than 5% in the same week that NVDA rallied? The answer sits in the flow, the trend score, and the strike map. See the AlphaX Options view before the open.
Friday’s tape was strong, not simple
The dashboard snapshot from Friday showed 84.5% sentiment and a 0.183 put/call ratio. Tech led the sector heatmap with $51.9 million across 28 orders. But the names inside that green box mattered more than the label. MSFT, AMZN, GOOG, META, and INTC all carried +100 trend scores. NVDA was still strong at +78.7, while QQQ sat at +42.6.
The week’s price action tells the same story. NVDA finished up 4.4% from Monday’s close. AVGO gained 2.8%. QQQ added 1.4% and SPY 0.8%. TSLA was flat. MRVL fell 5.5% after its earnings beat failed to answer when the Google AI deal will pay off.

What the Alpha Dashboard is flagging
If you open the Alpha Dashboard now, the message is not “buy every chip.” It is “watch where size and trend agree.” Friday’s Alpha Trades panel showed an AMZN $270 call sweep for $3.2 million, an INTC $110 call sweep for $2.3 million, and an AAPL $322.50 call sweep for $1.5 million. That is a broader leadership test than NVDA alone.

On my radar for the week
- AVGO: Wednesday’s earnings are the next test of AI spending after NVDA’s forecast.
- Jobs data: Friday’s report could shift the rate path and the value of long-duration tech.
- MRVL: Watch whether price can reclaim Friday’s gap before the dashboard trend signal improves.
The AI trade is alive. The dashboard says the next leg needs breadth inside tech, not just another headline from one leader. I want price, flow, and trend to point in the same direction.
