Weekend Rundown: AI Leaders Split the Tape

Sunday, Sept. 27: The market finished the week green, but the real story was narrower: AI leaders kept pulling ahead while traders still bought upside in the index. The Friday close put the S&P 500 at 7,743.41, the Nasdaq at 27,068.72, and the Dow up 0.93%.

I was at my desk watching Friday’s last hour when the dashboard made the split easy to see. The Alpha Dashboard showed 90.8% sentiment and a 0.102 put/call ratio. Tech carried $104.1 million in bullish flow across 39 orders. That is not a broad, sleepy rally. It is a concentrated bid that still wants exposure.

What if the index is only the wrapper? The next clue is whether the dashboard’s single-name leaders keep widening the gap, or whether the bid finally spreads beyond the AI complex. See the strike map before Monday’s open →

AI leaders did the heavy lifting

The weekly chart below uses Yahoo Finance daily closes and rebases the group to 100 on Sept. 18. AMD finished the week up 12.6% from that base, MU rose 6.5%, and MSFT jumped 4.5% on Friday after its Copilot update. NVDA held a smaller 1.3% gain, while QQQ ended up 3.2%.

What the dashboard said last

The live panel adds useful texture to the price chart. Its Alpha Trades list showed an MSFT Oct. 16 $520 call block worth $4.8 million, an AAPL $350 call block worth $2.8 million, and a QQQ $750 call block worth $1.9 million. Trend strength was +100 for AMD, MU, MSFT, TSLA, and NVDA.

Last week’s reads and Monday radar

On my radar: MU reports Sept. 30, so its +100 trend score now has a clear test. I am also watching whether AMD can keep leading while MSFT and QQQ absorb the fresh call demand. The dashboard should show that rotation before the headlines do.

The takeaway is simple: Friday’s close rewarded the AI leaders, but the options tape is still asking for more upside. If breadth expands, the dashboard will show new sectors joining Tech. If it does not, the leaders remain the story.

P.S. The cleanest Monday tell may be whether the $520 MSFT and $750 QQQ call levels attract follow-through. AlphaX Options has the next strike-map change.
